Helinox Table One review: why we made a folding carbon hardtop

An ODAM camping review · From a favorite compact table to a carbon hardtop
A small table can make a surprisingly big difference to a small camp. The Helinox Table One is one of our favorites: compact enough to consider for a backpack, short hike, bikepacking trip or motorcycle camping setup, and useful as soon as you sit down.
We liked the table enough to build around it. The ODAM MFT is our foldable carbon fiber hardtop for a compatible Table One frame: a different working surface, with mounting options for the way we arrange our camp kitchen.
A real campsite photograph from the ODAM source library. The patterned tabletop and decorative shelf are the photographed configuration; finishes and included accessories depend on the selected product.
What makes the original Table One so appealing?
The packable frame and low table height work well with a small chair. For reference, the current US Helinox Table One specification table lists a 60 × 40 cm surface, a 38 cm height and a packed size of 42.5 × 10 × 10 cm. It lists 626 g assembled and 718 g packed. These are the stock table's figures, not the weight or dimensions of an ODAM-equipped assembly.
That compact format is why we keep considering it for lightweight camping and motorcycle trips. The right choice still depends on the whole packing list: a short overnight ride and an ultralight walking trip do not ask the same things of a table.
Where we wanted something different from the fabric top
With our cooking and coffee setup, we wanted a surface that was easier for us to wipe down after spills, with a firmer place for upright cups and bottles. The original mesh top has dedicated cup holders; our preference was to arrange more of the equipment across a continuous hard surface.
We also wanted a work area better suited to our cooking arrangement. Those preferences led us toward a rigid, heat-resistant carbon surface with a purpose-built stove attachment, while retaining a tabletop that folds for packing.

Our answer: a foldable carbon fiber hardtop
The ODAM MFT foldable carbon fiber hardtop replaces the surface on the compatible Table One configuration. Open the folding panels for a rigid work area, then fold the top when it is time to pack.
For us, the point is having a firm place to work and a layout that keeps small equipment organized. Carbon fiber is part of that design choice, but the complete setup still has a packing cost. Choose the top, frame and accessories as a system; the stock Helinox weight above is not a promise that every upgraded setup will weigh less.
A fixed stove position: burner above, canister below
The stove mounting arrangement is one of the most useful parts of our design. With the matching threaded canister adapter and compatible stove, the burner sits above the tabletop and the canister is held below. It gives the stove a defined attachment point instead of leaving the entire burner-and-canister assembly freestanding on the working surface.

The aim is to reduce unwanted movement in our cooking layout. Use the specified adapter with compatible gas hardware and follow the stove manufacturer's heat-clearance instructions. This is a mounting feature, not a measured accident-prevention claim or an invitation to place a hot pan directly on the panel.
Keep the small camp organized
MFT's 1/4-inch accessory attachment points allow compatible shelves and light poles to move small items above the main surface. A light, cup or coffee tool does not always need to occupy the same space as food preparation.
The canister attachment uses its own matched adapter. A 1/4-inch accessory thread, a stove's gas connection and an ODAM Maglock module are different interfaces; choose each part for the job it actually does.
Table One hardtop or Table 1 hard top: what should you search for?
“Helinox Table One hardtop” and “Table 1 hard top” are useful ways to describe the firmer folding surface people are looking for. Helinox also makes its own Table One Hard Top. ODAM MFT is an independent carbon upgrade, not that factory top. Confirm the actual host model rather than assuming every Hard Top, Large, Tactical or generation variant uses the same fit.
What to know before choosing MFT
The linked MFT item contains one tabletop. The compatible Table One frame, stove, canister adapter, shelf, lighting and other pictured accessories are separate unless a specific package says otherwise. Check the product page for its current preorder and delivery information.
If your camp instead starts from a Field Office, the corresponding center decks and Maglock Solo — Helinox M belong to that different host family. MFT is the Table One route.
We still like the original Table One for the same reason we started using it: it gives a small camp a useful place to sit, cook and spend time. MFT is how we adapt that idea to our preference for a folding hard surface, an organized work area and a fixed stove position.
ODAM designs and sells MFT. This is our own camping and design perspective, not an independent laboratory comparison. No numerical heat rating, weight-saving percentage or new load rating is claimed here. Helinox is the compatible host brand, not an ODAM collaboration partner.
